New pupils land on your driving school's waiting list. Pick an instructor from the dropdown and they're assigned. The pupil is told straight away who their instructor is and that someone will be in touch.

  • Unassigned pupils never clutter anyone's diary until they're given out
  • Every instructor's pupils grouped under their name. Once assigned, a pupil stays with their instructor unless the instructor hands them back

📅 Book a First Lesson Straight Into an Instructor's Diary

Click the day and time and add the lesson. It's the same diary as the app, so it's on the phone instantly. Driving schools can open any of their instructors' diaries the same way.

  • Click an empty slot to add a lesson, a gap or a holiday with the time filled in
  • Paid or Unpaid on every lesson, worked out from real payments
  • Swaps, gaps and holidays, with pupils told automatically
  • Pupils Availability puts up to 4 pupils' free times on the diary in colour, with a Free this week list of pupils not booked yet and an On holiday this week list
  • Instructors can lock their diary, and you're told to contact them instead Driving schools only
  • The next lesson card lets you edit, cancel with or without a charge, or delete, the same as the app
  • Pick-up and drop-off on a lesson, so everyone knows where it starts and where it ends
  • Bank holidays are marked on the diary, taken from your postcode, so you can decide whether to work them
  • Repeating lessons, holidays and appointments, set once and kept in step everywhere

🗓️ Pupils' Free Times and Holidays, Alongside Your Diary

Pupils tick when they're free in their app. In the diary, press Pupils Availability and choose up to 4 pupils, and their free times show in their own colour around the lessons already booked. Press All pupils to list everyone who isn't booked this week, with pupils on holiday down the other side.

  • Up to 4 pupils at once, each in their own see-through colour, side by side and broken around lessons, pencilled-in lessons, holidays and appointments
  • Free this week, down the left: every pupil not booked this week, the days and times they're free, and any holiday. Click one to add their colour
  • On holiday this week, down the right: pupils who are away that week, with their dates
  • Pupils keep their own free times up to date in their app, so you're never booking from an old message

Payments

💷 Pupils Pay the Driving School, Instructors Get Paid, and the Books Agree

Take a payment from any instructor's pupil and the lesson hours show as their credit on the instructor's app straight away. The Control Centre then keeps track of what you owe each instructor until you pay them.

  • Credit and Paid badges update the moment a payment is recorded Solo instructors too
  • A dashboard reminder until every instructor is paid
  • Paying an instructor records your expense and their income in one go
  • If a pupil becomes one of yours, their payments move with them and count as your own lesson income
  • Click any entry in Finances to see who it was from, which pupil and which instructor Solo instructors too
  • Mark each expense as claimable or not claimable, and see your profit both ways: with only claimable expenses taken off, and with every expense taken off Solo instructors too

🧮 Finances That Fit Your Business, with No Jargon

Tell the Control Centre how your business is set up once. Pick sole trader or limited company, and Finances only shows what applies to you, with the sums done for you.

  • Three simple choices: sole trader on the cash basis, sole trader with traditional accounting, or limited company
  • Car finance handled for you: on the cash basis the whole hire purchase payment counts, and for traditional accounting and companies the interest is split out automatically
  • Sole traders: business use of your car and phone, the working from home flat rate, and an estimate of the tax to set aside
  • Limited companies: your own year end, an estimated Corporation Tax bill, and dividends and the director's loan kept out of your profit
  • Company deadlines on your dashboard, with a warning if the director's loan or dividends need a word with your accountant
  • One click downloads everything for your accountant, and another gives you every receipt photo in a single zip

🚗 Your Cars, Looked After for You

Add each car once: its finance, insurance, car tax and MOT. Every payment goes into your expenses on the day it leaves your bank, and you're reminded before anything's due. No more digging through bank statements or finding out your MOT ran out last week.

  • Hire purchase, PCP, lease or owned outright, showing payments made, payments left and what's left to pay
  • Finance, insurance and car tax payments added to your expenses automatically, moved to the next working day when they fall on a weekend or bank holiday
  • Insurance paid yearly or monthly over however many months your insurer uses, with a different first or last payment if yours has one
  • MOT, car tax and insurance renewal reminders from 30 days before, on your dashboard and as notifications on your phone, until you press Done
  • If anything runs out, a warning stays on your diary until it's sorted
  • Sell or part exchange a car and its payments and reminders stop by themselves

📆 Weekly Franchise Fees That Keep Track of Themselves

Set a weekly fee for each instructor and pick the day it's due. At 9am that day every instructor gets a reminder with the amount, and it stays on your dashboard until you record it. Nothing is collected automatically: instructors pay you directly, and you mark it received.

  • Pupil money you're holding for an instructor can come off their fee
  • If what you hold covers the fee, the week settles itself on the due day
  • Instructors see the fee, what comes off it and what's left to pay
  • Mark a week received or waive it in one click, and both sets of books update together

  • Your Enquiry Form: your own link to share on Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, or to put on your website. People fill in their own details and land on your list
  • Declining Enquiries: choose whether declining sends a polite message or deletes the enquiry straight away
  • How-To Videos: short walk-throughs of the Control Centre, built into the page
  • Show me / Tell me: your own answers for your car, so pupils practise the 21 DVSA questions on the real thing
  • Reflective Logs: the wording pupils see, and your pupils rate their own lesson
  • Message Quiet Hours: pupil messages wait until your quiet hours end
  • Pupil App Messages: the wording pupils see on the waiting list, after an enquiry, when declined or when inactive

Or pass them to your accountant. Drive My Way doesn't send anything to HMRC itself, and isn't connected with My Tax Digital.
